Once Again

Hey everyone.. sorry I have been away so long. I finally have my own place..its a duplex in town and Jordan is settled into school pretty well here. Jordan is in grade 4 and is involved in cubs, the chess club, and bowling right now. He wants to play basketball so I'm thinking of putting him in a kids basketball league. He seems to really enjoy it. He has made new friends here and has settled in quite well.
As for me, I have decided to go back to school to finish my teaching degree. I am applying to the University of Maine in Machias so that I dont have to uproot Jordan again. If I can swing it financially then I should be able to get into the program no problem. It should only take a year or a year and a half. Then maybe I can get a permanent teaching job. Other than that, my life is still the same. Let me know how all of you are doing.

China

Well we went to China and had a wonderful time. It was incredible but there was alot  packed into 2 full days. We flew in on Wed. and just relaxed. Thursday morning we went to the Great Wall. What a hike that was. We went to the tourist part but the steps massive. If you want serious exercise, I would recommend climbing the Great Wall. We had to stop twice on the way to the top but once we got to the top it was worth it. The view was magnificient as you can tell by the photos. We bought alot of souvenirs there. That was what we had wanted to see the most out of everything.
Next was the Ming Tombs. It wasn't that great. We had wanted to go to the one that was underground but our guide said that it was too far and that we didn't have time for it.
Next was the Summer Palace. We only did a part of it but it was so beautiful. We saw the part that was surrounded by the lake. Their was a corridor that is said to be the longest corridor in the world. Jordan really liked the dragon boat but I really liked the marble boat. We then took the boat (not the dragon boat but another one) to the other side where the exit was and that is where the 17 tier bridge is. It was alot of walking that day but it was worth it. We went to the jade factory and they make the most amazing things with jade. They showed us the process and then we also went to another factory (bronze i think). For supper we went to the Peking Duck restaurant. I told Jordan it was chicken. After supper I told him it was duck and he was surprised.
That was day one . Jordan conked out pretty quick that night.
On Friday we started by going to Tienamenan Square. I have never seen so many foreign groups in one place before. It was huge. Then beside it was the forbidden city. It was amazing. There was alot of history there.  Lastly we went to the Temple of Heaven where we did alot of walking. We saw the oldest tree in the world and I really like the little gates all around the city. That day I got a sunburn on my right arm. That night, we went to an acrobatics show. It was children doing the show. I do have to say the bicycle stunt was the best one.
Then on Sat. we were at the airport for our 2p.m flight except we didn't fly out till 6:30. We were waiting for a connecting flight. I don't like the Beijing airport that much but what can you do. All in all it was a great trip. Nothing says it better than an eight year old when he says..."Your the best ever!!"

Oh boy oh boy

well, once again, Jordan is sick. This time it is tonsilitis (again..2nd time within  a month), ear infection and sore throat. I don't know what to do anymore. Jordan has been so sick since he came here. It just doesn't stop. I finally have booked my vacation. My first real vacation since I've been here. Finally!! I"m getting excited but it is frustrating. Work is the same. Busy as ever and one or two of the kids drive me crazy. That's normal though. I'm still looking for a job. I wanted Michigan but I have been talking to a school in Ohio. We are in the "talking" process but all I did was send the resume and they contacted me asking when and how to be in contact with me soon. I was thinking... finally.. a school might want to hire me. But I could be mistaken. Just because we are in the "talking" phase doesn't mean that I will get it. Anyways..work is calling me again so I need to be working!!!

Things I Like/Don't Like About Korea

Well, we all do a list and here are a few of my dislikes..

1. people spit everywhere.
2. They work all the time and only give 2 weeks of vacation a year.
3. They are all soooo skinny. I can fit into maternity size clothes here. Its very depressing.
4. They honk their horn at you all the time
5. Just because you are on a crosswalk does not mean they stop for you
6. Motorcycles drive on the sidewalks
7. Subways are tooooo crowded
8. they don't  know about personal space.. they push and shove and invade your space constantly
9. bus drivers are horrible!!!!! I will never again complain about ontario bus drivers

Things I Like
1. You can easily get lost in this city and find great new places
2. My sis and her hubby are here (that should be a given)
3. Shopping is cheap ( of course I would love that! I'm a girl for goodness sakes!)
4. There are so many beautiful places to see
5. There are lots of places to walk or exercise
6. spring here- the flowers and gardens are beautiful

I'm sure I will be adding to this list as I go. There are always things you like and dislike about where you live!!

Long day

Well since yesterday, Jordan has been sick. I took him to the hospital today and found that he has acute tonsilitis. So that means I have to take off tomorrow from work as well. Now I have missed three days of work this week which means I lose 120 bucks each day. Not a good thing even if I have a doctor's note. Needless to say, working over here is not fun when you have a sick child. But my family oomes first. Always has and always will. Maybe Mr. Kim will be nice about it since I have a doc's note but I doubt it. So keep Jordan in your thoughts and prayers.
